{"id":1410,"date":"2019-06-30T22:58:38","date_gmt":"2019-07-01T02:58:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kbcsandbox10.com\/tcservices\/wotc\/?p=1410"},"modified":"2019-06-30T23:00:44","modified_gmt":"2019-07-01T03:00:44","slug":"house-panel-approves-bills-tax-extenders-expanding-wotc-tax-credits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tcservicesusa.com\/wotc\/house-panel-approves-bills-tax-extenders-expanding-wotc-tax-credits\/","title":{"rendered":"House Panel Approves Bills on Tax Extenders, Expanding WOTC Tax Credits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On June 20, 2019, the House Ways and Means Committee advanced Democratic legislation to extend expired and expiring tax breaks and to expand tax credits that benefit workers, families, and businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The committee passed by a party-line vote of 25-17 a bill to extend through 2020 a host of tax breaks that expired in 2017 and 2018 or will expire at the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p>Congress routinely passes legislation renewing temporary tax breaks, known as \u201ctax extenders,\u201d and lawmakers in both the House and Senate are interested in passing an extenders package this year.\u00a0 The legislation the Ways and Means Committee approved is designed to serve as a starting point in discussions on the topic.<\/p>\n<p>Among other tax credits, the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), is of utmost importance &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/house-bill\/3301\/text#toc-HEF7E79406B8C484CB26040D8C0B7B440\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">H.R. 3301, \u201cThe Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Relief Act<\/a>.\u201d The bill would extend for one year a number of incentives scheduled to expire at the end of 2019, including the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
